No! I’m not going to rent a German Dungeon and live in it for a month. Absolutely not. The idea does not appeal to me at all but I was amazed when I realized it’s an option being offered on Airbnb.
At the moment, I’m renting a room above a bar in France but it’s time for me to start thinking about where I want to go next so I began exploring the options available on Airbnb
If you’re not familiar with Airbnb, I suppose I’d better offer a quick explanation. Airbnb is a website that allows you to rent rooms all over the world.
Airbnb accommodation can vary a lot, but the majority of rooms available to rent are in people’s homes. There are other options though. I once rented a bedroom situated in some offices in Naples (strange I know). I also spent a few weeks living in a tiny house in Bucharest, but there is no way on earth I will ever pay to spend time living in a dungeon.
The dungeon accommodation is located in a village called Hohenlepte and visitors are advised to bring plenty of warm clothes because its a cold, damp, underground cellar.
Anyone who does decide to rent this German dungeon will have the pleasure of sleeping on a hard, metal bed. At least the toilet is handy. It’s a metal bucket. Does that count as en suite?
This strange Airbnb accommodation even has bars on the door. Needless to say, there are no mod-cons at all but the dungeon does appear to come complete with a few torture devices. Lovely!
Presumably, the Airbnb host who’s offering this slice of dungeon life is hoping to attract people who are looking for a novelty experience. So far the host hasn’t had much success. There is no feedback from any guests at all so I’m presuming not many people are keen to rent a German dungeon.
I suppose it’s possible the owner may pull in a few guests in the future. Some people may consider the idea of sleeping in mock dungeon quite entertaining. Presumably, that’s what this is all about—a bit of fun. The Airbnb host probably only hopes to attract people wishing to stay a night or two. However, I always book rooms for a month. The dungeon was available for all the dates I need so it turned up in the Airbnb search results.
